Great post Marco...

I don’t understand what all the hype is..Why are so many people AGAINST a social programmed health care?

It doesn’t mean that all private or H.M.O. would cease to exist, it simply means those without WOULD be safe and insured...How could that possibly be deemed as bad? Except for the doctors and hospitals that charge $16 per aspirin and $150 per stitch.

Here in Mexico, my family and I are insured by IMSS which is the social security institute of Mexico...granted, they are not pretty hospitals or medical centers...I assure you no money is being invested in updating the interior or exterior decor, but we have always been treated well..

I have extreme hypertension which has led to renal deficiancies.. My medicines and doctors appointments in a private med center would run well over $6500 pesos per month, at the cheapest private care facility...They are free with IMSS (it is called a prestation for my employment.)

My sister recently had a full hysterectomy which was dome free of charge, in the private hospitals the most economic she found was $72,000 PESOS. She was treated wonderfully and recovered perfectly.

Of course there are times we still use our private doctor, but the point is, we have an option, we have the peace of mind of knowing if God forbid we needed chemo, heart surgery, etc we would not have to choose between life and being bankrupt, hungry, and homeless.

Your last paragraph is why Americans want a public option. For the peace of mind that if the private option fails to deliver, then one need not go through bankruptcy or, say, sell one’s furniture to obtain proper medical care.
People’s health is too important and when people are sick they should not have to worry excessively about money.

Why do so many Americans oppose this? How could anyone not benefit or be harmed by such a plan? Why do somemany seem to think it is part of some socialist movement to cast the U.S. into the hands of communism? I sincerely, as much as I try, don;t understand...
