The popular Google-owned video-sharing site YouTube is playing ctahc-up to NBC and FOX produced rival Hulu. Everyone one knows YouTube. Hulu is similar to YouTube in that it offers videos, expect these are not just any videos to people can post.

Hulu works less as a video-sharing site than as a NBC-FOX joint venture (NBC and FOX are two of America’s half dozen or so broadcast networks) that features official content that included popular shows. The site is user friendly, with a easy to navigate database, and clear picture quality. Further, advertising is not a nuisances.

YouTube v. Hulu
(New and popular site Hulu)

YouTube is starting to lose ad money to Hulu and is responding with its own initiative to post official content (movies and televisions shows) by recently signing a contract with Hollywood legendary studio MGM to post full-length movies that will be shown along side advertising. MGM also owns several shows that will air on YouTube Lionsgate (a film studie) and CBS television have also signe deals that will allow for the broadcast at least of other shows including the 1990’s git “Beverly Hills 90210″.

YouTube is still the most prominent video site in the world with 81 million visitors in September in contrast with Hulu’s 6.3 million. But the latter is gaining popularity and has more than 100 sponsors whom are working to create content, including games, for the site.

Whoever wins the world of the video sites (I think the market is big enough for both of them), the consumer will be the ultimate winner for his quantity of free on-line content will continue to increase in the process.
