Hamas has amassed a huge arsenal of rockets, some of which can go relatively deep into 1948 occupied Palestine [or “Israel”]. Will it now use them given that Israeli has targeted Palestinian civilian and killing 195 in one day.

And if it does, will Hezbollah, the Lebanese resistance front, open a second front against Israel. Since Israel’s humiliating lose in the Summer 2006 war, Hezbollah has restocked and even acquired more robust missiles. Hezbollah’s television channel, el-manar, has stated that the resistance group’s leadership has told the people of Gaza that “You are not by yourselves.” Is this just hollow rhetoric or does the militia intend to lighten the load, literally, on Gaza be diverting Israeli attention to the northern border? If these words came from an impotent Arab government, they could be dismissed. But given the fact that they were uttered by a principle force, they do have some possibility of bearing action. After all, Hasan Nasrallah, Hezbollah’s leader, previously stated that he triggered the 2006 war in part to aid the Palestinians of Gaza who were then suffering from another Israeli bombardment. This time the pressure on the Palestinians, their suffering, their deaths is much higher and that might compel Hezbollah to attack Israel from the north to give Palestinians breathing space. It could easily happen.

And if Hezbollah did, what about Syria? Iranian weapons to Hezbollah travel through Syria, and Syria provided its own material support to Hezbollah. If Hezbollah attacked Israel, could a three-front war erupt if Israel decided to then attacks Hezbollah co-sponsor or if Syria decided to use the opportunity to attempt to recapture the occupied Golan Heights? It’s the Middle East and everything is possible.

Don’t count out Iran. If Syria comes under air attack, Iran might launch some of its own missile into Tel Aviv. Maybe then Israelis would appreciate what its like to have bombs falling over one’s head. Just ask the Palestinians of Gaza, o’ no wait! You can’t ask all of them, because some are dead after Israel killed at least 195 before noon.
