Why Your Vote Really Does Not Matter
Try this for a thought: Tell someone you choose not to vote because “my vote will not matter.” If they are your typical American raised on pseudo-patriotism and silly bromides, they will gasp and say, “but what if everyone said that?”

What if everyone said that? If everyone concluded that their unitary vote, in a sea of votes, will not matter and thus they opted not to vote then suddenly your own vote will count more. The likelihood of your vote being decisive is inversely proportional to voter turnout. The higher the turnout, the decrease in your vote weight, the lower the turnout, the more your vote will count.

If only ten vote and you’re one of the ten, then you have a 10% of your vote being decisive. But if one hundred vote, then your shot is 1%. And so on. So imagine the odds when millions vote. Will your vote matter? Have you ever seen an election decided by one vote?

So when they tell you “but what if everyone said that” so as to say that you should vote because if everyone believed like you then no one would vote, you should remark, “why not?” If everyone believed like you and did not vote you can then decided to no longer adhere to this true maxim and instead being that one who will vote and determine the outcome of elections.

Alas, cynicism and basic logic does not run that high in America. So millions continue to take part in the opium of American elections.

And, with that, no matter what the pundits or politicians say, your vote does not matter, kid.

And if you’re not convinced by my sublime logic, even Hollywood tells you not to vote. And nothing Hollywood says is wrong! Those actors and their wisdom...
