Why Pakistan Is Not Happy About Obama

Last Tuesday’s historic election of Barack Obama as the first president of the United States was greeted by massive celebrations around the world from France to the down under nation of Australia.

But there was one country where festivities were not to be seen: Pakistan. Most Pakistanis know that Barack’s middle name is Hussein and that his father was a Muslim, but that does not concern them as a pledge Barack Obama made as a candidate.

Then candidate Barack stated that if the U.S. has intelligence about Al-Qeada operatives in Pakistan and if Pakistan did not act, the United States would violate Pakistani sovereignty and launch raids into the country.

The Bush administration has already embarked on such a tactic that has lead to the lose of many civilians. Such attacks have rallied radicals and angered moderates in the nation who do not want to see their nation’s sovereignty violated with impunity.

There is a great that Obama would increase such incursion to the great determent of Pakistani civilians. That is why in a recent 24 nation poll, Pakistan was one of only 4 nations polls where the majority of respondents stated that things under Obama would get worse.

Whether they will has yet to be seen, of course. But Pakistanis for now can take refugee in one thing Obama has said: the president-elect said last week that he will make resolving the dispute over Kashmir with India a top priority.

Well, shiv is right. in the polarized world today, there can't be and shouldn't be any forceful solution. because that will only lay the corner stone for the vital future problem.

On the other if Obama is committed to uproot the terror from Pakistan, all the other problems with india and afghanistan will end automatically as they are the root cause of the all the problems...

Obama commitment to strike terror outfit in Pakistan is the probable reason for the fanatics who some way or the other condone the f*****g Jihad. Only those are worried, not the peace loving people, I guess.

If you don’t like the word Jihad ,should we call it a crusade as Bush initially did? Nato troops have no business either in Iraq or in Afghanistan. It was lies in one case ,and over reaction to create chaos to achieve their own geo-strategic aims.Vilifying Islam is only a part of the strategy.

Well, that is the strongest US alley in its war against terror, fooling the Bush administration to be the part of its war while at the same time providing the safe haven to terrorists. Now at least, I hope, Obama administration will understand who is their foe and friend. So far Obama seems on the right path and the pakistan Guilty conscience...

If this ally wasn’t there by now the Taliban would have kicked the GI’’s out of Afghanistan. The maximum destruction of Taliban assets so far has been at the hands of this ally.

Absolutely wierd logic you use here. How on earth do you end up equating ”That is why in a recent 24 nation poll, Pakistan was one of only 4 nations polls where the majority of respondents stated that things under Obama would get worse” ... to.. Pakistan Is Not Happy About Obama ?

And by the way let me assure you he is to wise a person not to discard his campaign rhetoric once he has to deal with real life issues.
