So Republicans, neo-conservatives and Islamophobes have just realized that they love Iranians and Muslims after all. After years of demonizing Iran and calling for crippling sanctions against the people, and bombing the country these same people know claim to be the supporters of the Persian nation.

Did any of these ostensible champions of Iranians condemn a New York Times op-ed by Israeli far-right historian Benny Morris, an advocate of ethnic cleansing, when he opined that Israel should launch a preemptive nuclear attack against Iran and casually mentioned that millions of Iranians would die? Such is the degree of dehumanization of Arabs, Persians and Muslims that an op-ed in the nation’s premier newspaper can appear calling for the genocide of millions all because an Iranian nuclear capability makes Israel fell insecure and no one in the mainstream press objects. Who would have died in such an attack but those currently on the streets of Tehran?

Of course, none were bothered then and some probably support such action. And now these people have the temerity to pose as brothers-in-arms with Iranians?

Republican Senator John McCain writes on his Twitter page: USA always stands for freedom and democracy!!

I guess the C.I.A. coup against a democratic Iranian government in 1953 in defense of narrow British oil interest was standing for “freedom and democracy.” As was the C.I.A.’s creation of the SAVAK secret police and years of American support for the Shah’s looting, corrupt and authoritarian rule.

And this revolutionary cares so much about Iranians that he sang “Bomb Iran” in solidarity:

And once joked that selling American cigarettes to Iranians, even though other U.S. products are banned, many not be such a bad thing because it “may be a way to kill them”. Kill whom? The ayatollah and the mullahs don’t smoke, do you know who does? The fashionable youth marching right now. The audacity of this two-time loser is incredible!

One could go on citing other American right-wing personalities and their empty rhetoric, but I’ll spare you the frustrating read.

To state once again: Who’s fooling whom?
