U.A.W. Leader Blames Southern Senators; Plays on Xenophobia

So, Ron Gettelfinger, president of the United Auto Workers, did not get his bailout. The union boss wanted Congress to bailout two of America’s three auto makers with $15 billion of taxpayer money. Though Mr. Gettelfinger has no problem with the taxpayers taking on this burden, he refused to even give Republican senators a date when the union will make cuts in the unjustified overpay that many union workers receive, to say nothing of the generous benefits.

Mr. Gettelfinger is now blaming those Republican senators and accusing them of siding with the Japanese auto industry over America’s.

“What this is the Southern conservative senators trying to destroy the United Auto Workers, trying to destroy unions. It’s a sad day in America when the senators turn their back on Main Street.”

Jim Graham, leader of a U.A.W. local in Lordstown, Ohio accused the senators of siding with Japanese auto industry: “There’s no doubt in my mind they’re doing the bidding for the Japanese auto industry. If it smells like a duck, it quacks like a duck. It’s a duck. Those guys are being influenced by the Japanese.”

It is true that these “Southern conservative senators” come from states where Japanese car makers (Toyota, ect...) operate many factors, but why is that the Japanese build factories there and why are they doing so well as opposed to GM, Ford and Chevrolet?

It is because Southern states protect workers from union bosses that force workers into union contracts. The unions then strike for higher and higher wages and a mini-welfare state until they wreck the firm. Southern states are right-to-work states were employees are protected from union if they do not wish to join one. Michigan, on the other hand, is a closed shop state. That means if a company or industry is unionized, in order to be employed in the profession you need to start paying dues to a union.

Foreign auto makers set up shop in the South so they do not have to deal with the mafia tactics of American unions, which seek to create labor cartels. These Southern factories are incredibly most efficient than anything that GM or Ford operate.

Even today the U.A.W. refuses to negotiate its plunder policies. For instance, it has only agreed to lower wages for new workers, not existing workers. And the unions now want the right to end secret ballots so they can have more power to wreck American industry. And they think that playing the patriot card will make the Southern senators look bad!
