Group B in the final round of the World Cup qualifying matches is all about Tunisia and Nigeria. Kenya and Mozambique are a sideshow [no offense], the nation to emerge from this Group and go on to play in the World Cup games in South Africa will be from the two former.
Tunisia and Nigeria are both exceptional teams in Africa and far better than their Group rivals. They are also very close in skill thus making a prediction quite hard.
Tunisia has been a regular at the World Cup in recent years. The tiny North African nation has qualified for the last three games. In all, Tunisia has attended four World Cup games. No other Arab nation and few African nations can lay claim to such a title.
But Nigeria is ambitious also ambitious. The country is still seething from being knocked out of the qualifying group in 2005 [for the 2006 Germany-hosted games] by...Tunisia.
Nigeria wanted revenge and today’s qualifying game hosted in the Rades stadium in the suburbs of Tunisia was its chance. Tunisia, of course, was not going to just lie there and take it. The two teams played against one another as if everything was on the line...because it was. Neither side ever tired, which made an interesting match. If either nation lost, it hopes would most likely have ended right there for the World Cup.
This is due to the fact that both nations expect to win against Kenya and Mozambique [a probably outcome] so the only really game that matters is this one. Or so they initial though.
The game ended in a draw: 0-0. This is now nerve-wrecking for me because I have to wait longer to find out whom will win. Whom?!
So now the following games will matter a lot, not just who wins but the number of goals scored.
Kenya and Mozambique also held a game today. 2:1; Kenya. But as I said, sideshow [knock on wood].
