The Politicization of Middle Eastern Studies

The study of the Middle East in America in both academia and the media is to political charged due to the efforts by Zionist and now by supporters of the Palestinians to construct a historical narrative favorable to their political agenda. In case you are wondering, the Zionist have the upper hand... by a long shot.

Zionists in America find it useful obscure the real history of the Israel-Palestine conflict for it serves their purpose of creating a shadow over the injustice the Zionist movement brought on the Palestinian people. Likewise, any historical narrative that impugns Arabs is also promoted for then Arabs become less related, less sympathetic and Israelis are left to monopolize American sympathy and support.

This came to me in stark reality when I was interning at the United States Senate this past summer ( I won’t say who. but early on his name was passed around as a possible V.P. pick for Obama. He did not get the job). Senators get a number of reading material from special interest group and the ‘American Israel Public Affairs Committee’ is not exception (to say the least).

But it is odd that AIPAC would distribute history texts (no, not really). Michael Oren’s new ‘Power, Faith, and Fantasy: America in the Middle East 1776 to the Present’ is a classic case of Zionist propaganda and anti-Arab and anti-Islam non-sense pretended to be an objective piece of history. The author is an Israeli to smears Arab and Americans who opposed the Zionist movement early one and finds nothing good to say about the region. That is why AIPAC favors.

In their shipment of the book that attached a letter, it reads in part.

“...we are pleased to provide you with a copy of Michael Oren’s new book... a comprehensive look at America’s involvement in the Middle East... Oren’s work is an indispensable piece for those interested in understanding the roots of America’s Middle East involvement today.”

Yes, indispensable piece (and I am sure they forgot to add exclusive) in understanding American policy in the Middle East... if you want the US to continue to adhere to an Israeli-only policy.
