There have been many stars this year, but few stood out as the Palestinian Kuffiyah did. Long the uniform for the leftist Palestinian resistance movement against Zionism, the Kuffiyah finally made its way to being vogue in America.
Let’s recap.
America’s newest sweetheart and cooking show host Rachel Ray found herself in the center of a right-wing attack after she appeared with the incriminating Kuffiyah in an ad for Dunkin’ Donuts. The ad was pulled because Zionuts protest too much.

A photo surfaces showing American Islamophobe and the cheerleader against Kuffiyah Donuts sitting on a Kuffiyah as if to say, “O’ yeah, I really do hate Arabs that much.”

Paris Hilton manages to out do herself in classiness in her Swarovski rhinestone encrusted Kuffiyah.

The John McCain campaign suffers its most embarrassing moment after Sarah Palin opened her mouth when their effort to portray Obama as an Arab falls apart when its it revealed that McCain’s own precise daughter Meghan has fallen in love with Jihad after wearing just once the seductive Kuffiyah.

Urban Outfitters discontinues its sale of $49.00 Kuffiyah’s due to it being “controversial”. Clearly the campaign to ban the Kuffiyah was pushed by Arab-American groups who resented the hijacking of their culture by a hipster store.

And, finally, they say the best compliment is imitation. Then Palestinians can take heart that there is now a Star of David kuffiyah. O’ globalization!

What will the Kuffiyah do in 2009....
