During these times of possible bankruptcy for General Motors, the automaker still demonstrates a mark for innovation. Whether it is beneficial in this case is questionable.
Meet GM’s P.U.M.A. [Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility] developed in partnership with Segway.

The electrically powered PUMA can travel up to 35 miles (56km) on a charge, at speeds of up to 35mph. A built-in internet link helps it avoid traffic and find a parking space where it can plug in and recharge.
Sceptics may wonder why GM, which is flirting with bankruptcy, is wasting time on such a crazy idea. Is it to highlight its ability to innovate—or to divert attention from the car giant’s woes?
Personally, I read that research to develop this cars totaled only 1% of GM’s budget, so this did not squander money. While at the same time it has generated some good news for GM as a firm that is capable of innovation and being a pioneering firm; though in this case admittedly beyond its normal market.
So I think this is a worth investment for GM, and it is very cool. I would like to drive around New York with this, wouldn’t you?
