The Caveman of the Republicans: Rush Limbaugh

The Republicans seem to have a death wish. Rush Limbaugh - man who compared Abu Gharib to a frat initiation and said feminism was just a way “to give ugly women access to the mainstream - has become the hero of the Republicans. He is indisputable the most powerful Republican in the nation. Limbaugh is more than just an influential commentator, but has become his own certification board for the party. Instead of offering any constructive, Limbaugh’s deranged hatred for Obama leads him to call for the new president’s failure. When one Republican stood up to such destructive language, Limbaugh’s standing within the party led the congressman to issue a pathetic apology.

Congressman Gingery was so far up Rush’s ass that he saw what the Pig at last week.

And Limbaugh was a major speaker at the immature college-fest that has become CPAC {Conservative Political Action Conference}. His speech is something else, nothing but far-right language that appeals to no one but a small segment of America. Is this the path that the Republicans are embracing? They forget that Limbaugh’s people failed in the last election, why embrace failure?

To see the rest of the speech, just visit YouTube.

The Republicans may believe they are projecting an image of strength by following Limbaugh, but most Americans don’t. While over 70% of Americans think Obama has done a good job of being bipartisan, 60% of Americans thinks Republicans have not done enough to reach out to Obama! This is a hard time for most Americans and they have no patience for extreme partisanship, they want Republicans to work with Obama to fix the economy not curry favor with a George Wallace-wanna be. It’s like the party wants to be down to a quarter of the Senate come 2010.

One thinks of Limbaugh and thinks about George Carlin’s description of a “Joe six-pack ... with his beer belly hanging over his belt buckle, this guy hasn’t seen his dick since Nixon.”

Wake up conservatives! There is a great conservative text titled “Ideas Have Consequence,” and The Economist [Ship of fools] played on that with the spin “Idiocy Has Consequences.”

The US needs a new and sane Conservative party, the Republicans are not serving the ideology well. This is just the latest evidence of how polarized and ridiculous they are becoming and it's depressing.

Rush Limbaugh isn't the leader of anything. He has never been elected or appointed to office, so he has no power to mess with people's lives the way politicians do. But, he sure can mess with minds.

The good news is that he and his followers don’t ”count” anymore. They are a smaller minority than Hispanics or Blacks, and can hardly gather a large enough crowd to satisfy a KKK or Michigan Militia audience.

He’s on ”commission”, makes millions, and will continue to harangue his groupies as long as it pays well. Lemmings need a leader, and they picked him. Hey, it pays well, and he pays his taxes, so at least he’s supporting the Obama initiatives in a way that he doesn’t understand.

cheers
