Saudi Arabia :

Saudis are not exactly the coolest people in the world, to put it nicely. And whenever they do attempt to act cool they mostly end up embarrassing themselves.

But whatever...

The death of Michael Jackson has shocked the world. Whatever one may say about his feminine, eccentric behavior and his general odd demeanor; Michael Jackson was a music genius who captured the attention of audiences the world over. The King of Pop revolutionized the art of dance with the moonwalk. Many of his songs are legends and Thriller is the best selling album ever.

The King of Pop retreated to the Middle East in his later life to the tiny island of Bahrain. He was often seen wearing the abaya; which is worn exclusively by Gulf women. And the King reported converted to Islam. One of his brother said “Allah is always with you” yesterday. It is a testament to Jackson’s international appeal that even in puritanical Saudi Arabia, Saudis gathered to dance to one of his greatest hits: Smooth Criminal.

The performance is anything but smooth, but it is still a nice tribute:

Okay, the Saudis look like dumbasses. And did you see the guy on the right grab his crotch? I think that will usually get you 100 lashes in Saudi Arabia. Anyway, a nice tribute.

And then there is this dude, but this guy is actually pretty cool. Here’s a sword dance the idiot Saudi king could not manage [I don’t know where this kid is from]:

Why wouldn’t Arabs dance to Michael Jackson? What does that even mean? That Arabs are incapable of having fun?

Have Hollywood movies and American journalism dehumanized Arabs that much for you?

That Arabic video was way cool....it's a testament to the power of Art. It's always transcendent, always unites and always brings out the very best in us.

I didn’t think I would ever stop laughing long enough to even reply. I wonder how long they practiced that?

Saudis traditionally dance with swords, just because someone is holding a sword does not mean malice is present.

Your comment it bigoted

LOL just loved it, music and laughter is just universal, good to see them having so much fun, although the one with the knife was a bit of a worry - I agree with Vijay on that one.

Easy,

1- a Pause at second 23 and a another transition at second 29 were needed to keep the dancers on sync with music (remember the music is continuing without any pauses).

2- They music were added form a continues track- no pauses and off curse no life sound form the audience or dancers.

3- This clip was shot using a cell phone - notice the step zoom- so a live sound or background noise is missing.

Common Nuya, I know you can notice a fake Video when you see it.

But still funny nothing more.

Now I’m a bit dissapointed - I thought the east was meeting the west through the mutual enjoyment of music and dance.

Nothing to prevent this, but it is hard to believe that the Saudis or any other people form any other nation will dance there traditional dance to Michel Jackson music.

It just does not fit.
