Alaska Governor and former Republican 2008 vice-president nominee Sarah Palin has decided to resign from her governorship.
The resignation will come at the end of the month. Palin’s rose to national prominence from obscurity after John McCain unexpectedly selected her as his running mate.
Palin’s was criticized during the campaign for her thin resume, many people charged that the young candidate was too inexperienced to be vice-president and a heartbeat away from being president.
Palin served as a city councilwoman in Wasilla - pop. 7,000 - from 1992 to 1996. Then as mayor the town from 1996 to 2002, when she unsuccessfully attempted to become Lieutenant Governor.
Palin chaired the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission from 2003 to 2004. In 2006, she was elected governor of the 49th state as the first woman and youngest governor in Alaskan history.
Her resignation prior to completing her first term will only add weight to those critics whom state that Palin is too much of a novice for high office. Most pundits speculate that Palin is resigning in order to concentrate on either a 2010 Senate run or a 2012 presidential campaign.
While Palin may be a strong contender for a Senate seat, a presidential campaign may be insurmountable...in a national election. While Palin
is seen mostly unfavorable by the general American public because of Palin’s deep ignorance - she did not know Africa was a continent and not a country - and her partisan zeal, Palin is loved for exactly those reasons by the Republican flock whom admire her ignorance as a badge-of-simply man-honor and love her combative attitude.
Rush Limbaugh - or “Boss Limbaugh” as Keith Olbermann calls him - has long praised Sarah Palin as a great presidential candidate.
He may get his wish. Days prior to resigning, Palin put out her first letter asking for campaign contributions for her political action committee. If she gets the Republican nomination, then the Republicans would seem to have a death wish.

I think she is going to face a trial for corruption charges that's why she decided to resign.
