I had previously reported about Slingshot Hip Hop, an excellent documentary [best I’ve seen] on the Palestinian Hip Hop scene. Well, thanks to KABOBfest I have been alerted to this short video produced by an American journalist [John Pendygraft for the St. Petersburg Times] of a Palestinian rapper in the occupied West Bank and another in Gaza. The video also features an Israeli rapper who says he should not count the deaths of the past and only look forward. O’ no! We Arabs will not forget the past, never never never! Do the Jews forget the Holocaust? No. Likewise we will not forget the Nakba and all that since then.
Here’s also a video of the hit “Min Erahabee” [Who’s the terrorist?] and “Born Here” by the first Palestinians hip hop group DAM from Lyd in 1948 Palestine. They songs are very political and speak to the discrimination and worse that Palestinians face in “Israel,” where DAM is from, and the West Bank and Gaza.
Btw, the Israeli equivalent to DAM is a far-right Zionist whose fans routinely shout “Death to the Arabs” as his hate fests he calls a concert. Racism is at the heart of Zionism and Israel.
