The radical, lunatic and racist Right has found a new cause against Obama: Kenyan birth. Before it was that he was a secret Muslim but that conflicted with their effort to make a big scandal out of Obama’s relationship with his radical leftist pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Then there was the accusation that Obama was a “socialist,” Obama is indeed a socialist but so is most of the Washington establishment and this effort at demeaning did not go far.

So the new cause is that Obama is not a born U.S. citizen and thus due to constitutional law is an illegitimate president who should be removed from office and replaced by runner-up John McCain [Ironically, McCain himself was not born on the constitutional United States but on U.S. territory along the Panama Canal Congress has to pass an act declaring McCain a U.S born citizen]. The radical right claims that Obama has never provided his claimed Hawaii birth certificate. Rush Limbaugh, the mouthpiece of the radical rights, jokes that the lofty Obama is indeed like God in one respect: both do not have a birth certificate.

At a recent town hall event presided over by Delaware’s Republican Congressman, a woman took to the mic to demand an investigation of Obama’s supposed Kenyan birth.

As you can see, the Right has truly lost it. This is a crazy idea in league with the accusation that President Bush knew about September 11.

While it is true that Obama has never publicly releases his Hawaiian birth certificate, but that is because Hawaiian law prohibits the public release. Hawaiian officials have released a statement declaring they have views the certificate and can attest to its legitimacy and, I believe, some journalists have viewed it in private.

Such facts have not phased the radical right who hate Obama with incalculable seething resentment. And some right-wingers have even now published a fake document claiming it to be Obama’s Kenyan birth certificate. This lie was taken apart quite effectively by MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann.

To mock the clumsy lie, a new website - Kenyan Birth Certificate Generator - has been established that allows anyone to create their own Kenyan birth certificate. Here’s mine:
