The American presidential election dominated the search engines of Google as the four candidates all made it to the top ten.

In the list for “Who is...?”, Obama, McCain and Palin respectively came in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Biden came in 9th. Rapper Lil’ Wayne came 4th on the list while young pop star Miley Cyrus ranked 5th. Two other artists made the list with Jonas Brothers 7 and Chris Browne 8. Dolla came in 6th and Martin Luther King rounded out the list at number 10. The 2008 list differs markable from the 2007 list in that this year’s list featured contemporary persons, the 2007 list did not feature an person expect Jesus. There is no overlap between the two lists.

In the “What is...?” list, there was continuity between ‘07 and ‘08. Love topped this list this year as well, with life coming in second, java third (8th on ‘07 list), SAP fourth (5th), RSS came in fifth (3rd), Scientology sixth, autism seventh (2nd), lupus eighth (4th), and, finally, 3G and art rounded out the list, respetively.

The year’s events apparently determine who’s who, but when it comes to objects people show a steady interest in similar matters over the course of some years.
