The Times reports on a recently unclassified interview with Israeli Foreign Minister and Kadima party candidate Tzipi Livni on her Mossad years. The interview was given years ago, but only printed a few days back after the Israeli election in which Livni managed to beat Netanyahu in attaining the most votes; although he’ll probably still become prime minister due to the rightist bloc winning more seats than the left. When the interview was originally published by Yediot Aharanot, it was heavily censored and Livni was identified only as “L”. Now those originally blacked-out bits have been revealed. Some interesting details ...
Livni graduated as an exemplary law student, but instead of a legal [which she pursued later] Livni signed up with the Mossad. And not just any Mossad outfit, but the Bayonet elite hit squad unit.
Although the interview does not state that Livni ever killed anyone, though that is very likely since she admits to going on mission, she does state that they was at least willingly to. “To kill and assassinate, though it’s not strictly legal, if you do it for your country, it’s legitimate.” And I guess Palestinians killing and assassinating for their country is legitimate too?
Livni even addresses the role of sex in going after a target. Linvi was asked if she would have ever partaken in a “honey trap” to go after a target as the Mossad had did with Mordechai Vanunu, the man who revealed Israeli nuclear secret to the British Sunday Times.
“If you ask me if I was ever asked to go to bed with someone for my country, the answer is ‘no’. But if I’d been asked to do it, I don’t know what I’d have said. In the ‘office’ [Mossad’s term for itself] there is a job tailored for everyone.”
A job that often includes killing innocent Palestinians. In response to Munich the Mossad went on a killing spear against innocent Palestinians and on innocent Moroccan waiter. Read this excellent review of that trash film “Munich”. See the post titled: Spielberg on Munich
