Kissing the Saudi's Ass

Saudi Arabia :

It has become an American ritual: kissing the Saudi King’s rear. We all know why. Saudi Arabia has the oil and America the thirst. That is why U.S. president show submissiveness toward the Saudis and that is why although the human rights records of Syria are heavily scrutinized the Saudi’s far worse behavior often goes without mention. It all comes down to money and lobbying clout. When an Arab nation plays the game, it is all of a sudden “moderate” and the United States could care less about how that nation abuses its people, but when a nation bucks U.S. policies in the region - as Syria has - it is a “rogue” state and the human rights violations all of a sudden are of great concern.

Let’s recap the American-Saudi friendship.

President Franklin Roosevelt was the first American leader to visit his Saudi counterpart. Roosevelt never stepped foot on Saudi soil, instead the Kingdom’s founding King Abdul Aziz stepped on board the USS Quincy off the coast of Egypt. The King entourage included goats. Presumably the goats were there to provide sexual amusement. It was in this meeting that the U.S.-Saudi oil relationship was established. To their credit, the Saudi King brought up Arab opposition to Zionism and Roosevelt assured him that a Jewish state would not come into being. Unfortunately, Roosevelt passed away in 1945 and the U.S. went on to recognize Israel in 1948.

Then came, after a few years, Bush Senior who established American military bases in the Kingdom after initially protecting Saudi Arabia from a possibly invasion by Saddam Hussein. The placement of bases had enormous consequences since it was the bases on Saudi soil - the same soil that houses Islam’s holiest sites of Mecca and Medina - that Ussama Bin Ladin cited as his number 1 contention.

What do these two have in common? They both have a problem with monogamy.

But of all the presidents none have been as affectionate to the Saudis than Bush. A tribute:

Kissing the Saudi's Ass

First the holding hands!

Kissing the Saudi's Ass

Then the delightful sword dance!

Kissing the Saudi's Ass

... and, finally, the kiss!

And now one has to give Obama some credit. He’s a quick learned. Look at him knell in from the of the King.

You are right Marco.
Kings of Saudi Arabia are surviving at the mercy of US. It’s the dual policy of US. The so called care taker of human rights all over the world, US has uttered not a single world against Saudi Arabia. US attacked Iraq for oil and is endorsing Saudi rulers for oil.

we dont survive at the mercy of anyone
we only live at the mercy of Allah(God)
who is the one that almost died when king Faisal stopped exporting oil to America
tell me now who is the one who is surviving at mercy
second the kiss pic is fake so you cant say something about it when its fake
and when obama bowed king Abdallah stopped him cuz in Islam its forbidden to bow to any human kind

So do not ever dare say something false or infringe on Saudi Arabia

I’ve read several analyses from the right that treat this as insignificant, or consider it the equivalent of the Bush hand holding and sword dancing incidents. To me, those were cringe-worthy enough

But, bowing on bended knee is a universal symbol of submission which is a very, very bad precedent for any president of the United States to do before any other head of state, let alone before King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, “Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.”

This bowing thing gives me the creeps. My husband was positive Bush had bowed to someone at sometime, but I Googled it and have been reading the comments and it seems Bush at least never did that. 0bama could have done that to just about anyone else and it wouldn’t have had quite the same dire significance. This just gives me a really bad feeling.

I worry about what it says to our enemies abroad. I don’t want America slipping into dhimmitude as Britain and the rest of Western Europe seem to be doing.

If you look at the clip, none of the other heads of state are greeting any other head of state with a deep formal bow. Only Obama. It’s shameful to the Office of the Presidency, the Constitution, and our history.

This also has many other negative implications. For example, Obama’s behavior is a propaganda coup for Muslims who believe non-Muslims must be forced to live as subservient dhimmis.

You are wrong, don’t speak about a religion if you know nothing about it.

It says nowhere that we have to live as ’servants’, learn about a religion before you make such remarks.

Obama’s behavior a propaganda coup? Obama has passed just three months as a President . He has assured to withdraw the troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. He is trying to built better relations with Tehran.Even he is pursuing good strategy to deal with financial crises. How can we say Obama’s behavior is just a propaganda coup?

Saudi has always been closer to Republicans than Democrats so this will be an interesting time for seeing how US-Saudi relations will continue to evolve.

I don’t remember seeing, hearing or ever reading about any US President ever bowing halfway down at the waist to greet any other head of state. I’ve looked on line and cannot find another example.
So, President Obama bowing down before Saudi King Abdullah may well be an historic first.

Saudi Arabia needs to sell the oil more than anyone needs to buy it. Energy substitutes can always been found.

But if S.A. did not sell oil it would be incredibly poor because the economy is almost exclusively based on oil.

Ehm, to correct you mr.i am the leader of all muslims.
It is wrong in islam to make fun of other religions and show hate towards other religions.
Second of all, you do not have to use abuse words to make your point clear.
And third you are right, but only to a certain point Saudi Arabia is biased, women have been suppressed that’s why they leave the country and go to the UAE and become, no offense, under cover street whores.
Not that most of the russian women haven’t done a great job accomplishing that status already but it’s different since you claim that Saudi Arabia is perfect and everyone is equal.

If it’s so equal and perfect as you say, why is it i think if you go to Saudi Arabia you have to wear a scarf regardless of your religion? Women aren’t allowed to drive there? If this i your perception of fair, you are completely mistaken.

To conclude, Marco if it wasn’t so expensive to use eco-friendly substitutes for oil the whole world will be using it a LONG time ago, but since it’s cheaper to buy oil the US, and most of the world IS dependant on oil.
