Israel Tells America Who's BossPresident Barack Obama came to office with great enthusiasm to finally end the Israeli occupation of Palestine and bring about a two-state solution: Peace.

The president appointed a Mid-East envoy in the form of former Senate Majority Leader and Northern Ireland successful peace negotiator George Mitchell. He visited Cairo and declared his commitment to a Palestinian state, and his administration became the first in 16 years to apply genuine pressure on Israel to cease building illegal settlements on land Palestinians aspire to one day build a sovereign nation on.

For months, Obama and the far-right Israeli government of Netanyahu-Lieberman had been in a deadlock as the administration demanded a “freeze” to settlements that Netanyahu refused to agree to. In the end: Obama - the most powerful man in the world - gave into the intransigence of a propagandist leader who is dependent on the United States but now can pose as the man who faced down Obama. The U.S. demand for a freeze turned into a light call for “restraint” and then Secretary Clinton actually went to Israel and sucked up to Netanyahu’s refusal to agree to a settler freeze. Netanyahu stated that settler activity will continue though at a lesser pace while East Jerusalem will not apply since Israel intends to keep the majority-Arab East Jerusalem (which Israel annexed in 1967, but no nation recognizes as Israeli. And Palestinians aspire to have as their future capital.). And Israel continues to demolish Palestinian homes in East Jerusalem. In the past, Clinton criticized and even summoned the Israeli ambassador to protest against house demolitions, but now in the face of an Israeli defense of settlements and exclusive control over Arab East Jerusalem the Secretary of State called a mere agreement for settlement restraint “unprecedented”. Are Palestinians supposed to be impressed and inspired to negotiate another futile around while Israel refuses to even discuss East Jerusalem and continues to build on Palestinian land?

Who is the superpower here? Why is the United States playing nice to Israel as if America is dependent on Israel when it is Israel that needs U.S. aid and support? Israel has always been contemptuous of Palestinians and Arabs in general, but its arrogant dismissal of its patron state has reached new levels:

The Israelis have been difficult, as always: whenever Mitchell raises East Jerusalem in talks with the Israeli Foreign Minister, the Israeli stands up and walks out of the room. Despite Netanyahu’s momentary, tactical enthusiasm for peace talks, his Likud Party has always favored the de facto incorporation of Palestinian lands into the state of Israel.

What nerve does the Israeli fascist foreign minister have to walk out of a talk with the U.S. envoy. This is the nation we give $3 billion to every year? A nation that thinks it is entitled to aid and treats the U.S. president and his envoy with disrespect. The only reason Israel behaves like this is because it knows it does not have to fear its aid being cut since the U.S. Congress is too afraid of the Israel lobby. Spineless Congress and president in the face of Israeli thuggery relying on the Israel lobby to do its bidding.

But such hubris will eventually be one of the causes of Israel’s pariah status in the world and eventually demise.

It's disgusting to see how they have our representatives in their pocket.

I elected you to serve my interests not to be the lap dog of Israel, or any other foreign nation.

It's clear to me that in 100 years there will likely be no Palestine. Israel will have played the long game and gradually squeezed them out of existence, or at least beyond the point where they can exist as a country.

Which is why people need to oppose Israel's actions today, and not at some point in the future.

And stop giving them so much ***** money!

Israel is becoming more and more aware that she may no longer be able to depend upon the United States to support her against the threat of terror from the Arab nations, and is preparing the nation accordingly to do what she may need to.

It is not about any threat of terror because I sreal actually applies more Imaginable terror to its neighbours than do the Arabs nations actually do. Even history proves that Jews always lived in peace under the Islamic and Arab regimes but the Jewish atates is simply a devilish one that believes in anarcy..too bad to have such a neighbour supported by the custodians of peace and democracy...The United States of America.

Israel has broken US agreements and international law before, what's to stop them from doing it again?

Fathi:

If there is no ”Palestine” in a hundred years, you can blame the Palestinians themselves for their ”all or nothing” game.

Why didn’t Jordan create a Palestinian state between 1948 and 1967, when they could have had all the West Bank and Jerusalem without asking Israel or anyone else?

Look at what Israel has done with the money– then look at the billions upon billions that have flowed into ”Palestinan Aid” and ask yourself where they have gone... then decide who should be cut off.

Evan, like you, I voted in my country’s elections for a government that would govern my country, not be a ”lap dog” for the United States. Even though I didn’t vote for the preesent government and disagree with many of its policies, they are still the legally elected government of a sovereign nation and not a subsidiary of ”USA, Inc.”

Robert: so has every other country in the world when it suited them. Why don’t you make up a list of every country that has violated international law since 2000? I think you’ll be amazed– Israel will be far from the top of the list.

This is interesting. You are right that Isreal has used all that it has to create its own state including terror. So when the Palestinians apply the same you say they are terrorists yet your country actually forces them to do so.
Just like Isreal is using force to expand, it should not blame the Palestinians for its armed resistance.
Israel believes in war and throughout history, the jewish people are known for their betrayal.
The state if Israel will never believe in a peaceful settlement of the conflict in the middle east and everyone knows that for sure...such hypocrites.

To Mr.Hassan Kikomenko:

HK: “This is interesting. You are right that Isreal has used all that it has to create its own state including terror. So when the Palestinians apply the same you say they are terrorists yet your country actually forces them to do so.”

IF the Palestinians had spent half the effort they put into their “violent resistance” into actually building the infrastructure for a state, I might agree that there’s a parallel. However, Palestinian Arabs have never shown the kind of enterprise needed for establishing and maintaining a state. Even during the British Mandate, when Jews were using terrorism as a weapon, they were also building schools, homes, hospitals, universities, cities, industry, infrastructure and agriculture. Where are the similar efforts of the Palestinian Arabs? Do they expect someone to hand them an up and running country on a platter, paid for by others? It isn’t going to happen.

HK: “Just like Isreal is using force to expand, it should not blame the Palestinians for its armed resistance.”

Ask yourself what came first, the chicken or the egg. Read the Hamas Covenant of 1988 (http://avalon.law.yale.edu/20th_century/hamas.asp), the PLO Charter of 1964 (http://www.un.int/palestine/PLO/PNA2.html) and the amended PLO Charter of 1968 (http://avalon.law.yale.edu/20th_century/plocov.asp). Israel has never declared the “destruction of the Palestinians” as a national aim, while the Palestinians have repeatedly declared the destruction of Israel as their national aim.

HK: “Israel believes in war and throughout history, the jewish people are known for their betrayal.”

Provide citations from credible history sources to prove this statement. If you can’t, it’s merely political rhetoric—the same kind that Adolf Hitler used.

HK: “The state if Israel will never believe in a peaceful settlement of the conflict in the middle east and everyone knows that for sure...such hypocrites.”

Any statement that contains the expression “everyone knows” should be viewed with suspicion. At one time, “everyone knew” that the earth was flat—but it’s not. At another time, “everyone knew” that a heavier-than-air aircraft were a “physical impossibility” (the British Royal Academy of Science even passed a resolution to that effect in 1901). At another time, “everyone knew” that man could never fly to the moon… but man has been there. What else does “everyone know”?

HK: “It is not about any threat of terror because I sreal actually applies more Imaginable terror to its neighbours than do the Arabs nations actually do.”

Part of the reason for that is the fact that you rarely hear about the failed attempts against Israel, only about the “successful” ones that manage to kill Israelis. Another part is the willful ignorance of people like you—what about the more than 200,000 Darfurians murdered by Muslims? What about the ongoing terrorism of Hamas against Palestinians ever since they took over the Gaza Strip two and a half years ago? What about the PLO involvement in the Lebanese Civil War, where massacres of Christians were a frequent occurrence? What about the tactics of Hizballah in Lebanon against Lebanese Sunnis and Christians? What about the Jordanians, who killed more Palestinians in September, 1971 than Israel has killed in 60 years?

HK: “Even history proves that Jews always lived in peace under the Islamic and Arab regimes but the Jewish atates is simply a devilish one that believes in anarcy..too bad to have such a neighbour supported by the custodians of peace and democracy...The United States of America.”

Actually, history has proven the exact opposite. Ever since the “Prophet” Mohammed and his army slaughtered the Jewish tribes living in and near Mecca, the history of Jews in Arab states is one of consistent oppression, repression, denial of freedom and murder, generally at the hands of local leaders and according to their whims of the moment. While there were some periods of opportunity and comparative freedom for Jews and other non-Muslims under Moslem rule, they were usually short and followed by harsh repression and massacres, such as the ones in Grenada in 1066, Cordoba in 1148 and Fez in 1465. On each of these occasions, thousands of Jews were murdered in just a few days. This “tradition” can be found throughout the history of Moslem rule, and is accompanied by the “time-honored” catch-phrase “Itbah al Yahud!” (“Slaughter the Jews”). Such a wonderful, peaceful history Islam has with the Jews…NOT!

If by “anarchy” you mean a more or less democratic system, where dissent can be voiced without fear of summary execution or long imprisonment without trial or representation and where the government changes every few years, then yes, it is “anarchy”. I suppose you prefer a stable government that is consistent in its policies over many years… perhaps something along the lines of Idi Amin’s government…

Since you seem to have no idea of the true history, but accept political rhetoric, buzzwords, slogans and propaganda at face value, please don’t waste my time and the time of other readers with your fictions… go out and learn some real facts.
