Palestinian children killed by Israeli during Operation Cast Lead.
Human Rights Watch - the U.S. branch of Amnesty International - states in a new report that Palestinians “civilians shot intentionally in some instances” by Israel’s occupying army during Operation Cast Lead - an Israeli attack against Palestinians in Gaza that killed over 900 civilians of whom over 400 were children.
According to HRW, 11 civilians - of whom five were women and four children - were killed by the occupying IDF even though they were carrying white flags signaling they were civilians. An additional eight were injured in similar circumstances.
HRW visited the sites of the intentional attacks, they collected medical and ballistic evidence, has forensic pathologists examine the one who was injured, and spoke to several witnesses for each killed or injured person.
In every event, HRW states that the individuals were either standing, walking slowly or driving slowly. They all held white flags.
The IDF refused to cooperate with HRW in the report and once it was released Israel adopted its predictable tactic. Israelis do not provide evidence as to why HRW is wrong, they simply issue a statement to dismiss the report as inaccurate and that the Palestinian witnesses are unreliable. They usually add a note about how their occupying soldiers make up “the most moral army in the world.” One wonders if Israelis really believe their propaganda or they just feel the need to issue something. Maybe to just make themselves feel better. One thing is certain: only like-minded Zionists believe the Israeli claims, the rest of the world knows HRW is a respected institution.
And that is why Zionists have been trying to demonize HRW in recent weeks. They accuse the organization of bias toward Israel - in fact it is too timid toward Israel - and after HRW went to fund-raise in Saudi Arabia they attacked for a supposedly Saudi bias. While in Saudi Arabia, HRW employees stated that they need Saudi funds to counter the pressures of pro-Israel donors who have threatened to withdraw support unless HRW stop criticizing Israel as frequently. When this information became public, Israel and its supporters went crazy over the fact that HRW would enlist support in Saudi Arabia on the grounds of criticizing Israel.
Supporters of Israel find it an affront that HRW would ask Arabs for support in order to document Israeli’s human rights abuses. Instead, they want Arabs marginalized so they, Zionists, can continue to control the debate the way their lobby does with the United States Congress. Well, HRW is not intimidated by thuggish Zionists and their voice will not be silences as more and more of the world knows about the true nature of the Temporary Zionist State.
