Lebanon :

Four Lebanese soldiers were killed on Monday in the Bakaa Valley as the war between the Valley’s drug lords, in relative terms, and the army escalates. The soldiers were killed by a rocket-propelled grenade.

And yesterday, the army stated is killed a fugitive in its hunt for the murderer[s] of the soldiers. The Valley’s farmers claim they cannot make enough money growing corps, and in recent years have turned to growing hashish. What is peculiar about the drug trade is that the Shiite, Islamic fundamentalist party Hezbollah has strong support in the Bakaa Valley and is believed to be profiting from the trade. It has long been reported that some of the revenue Hezbollah derives for arms purchases comes from drugs, all this even though Islam strictly prohibits intoxicants.

It is because of Hezbollah’s involvement, that Israel is getting involved in Lebanon’s drug war. Not directly, but indirectly through a domestic media campaign.

High For Hezbollah

Many of the hashish in the Bakaa Valley is sold, via mediators, to Israelis. Ergo, Israelis are indirectly financing their sworn enemy Hezbollah by smoking marijuana.

The Israeli Anti-Drug Authority is trying to bring home that message:

The ad reads: “Nasrallah aims at destroying Israel entirely.”

“Hizbullah has the obvious purpose of flooding Israel with venom which forms a strategic danger against Israel. We should not give him the chance to destroy Israel and we should counter drugs internally and externally.”

I am not entirely sure what is the point of this ad. Are the authorities trying to tie marijuana with Hezbollah so that people stop smoking all together [killing two birds with one stone] or just stop smoking marijuana from Bakka?

Hah! Now the Hezbollah is targeting Israel with hash...no point. We have lots of drugs coming from our neighbor Mexico but US is still the master baby.

Where’s Sharia? And your extremists? Moral policing of Taliban?

In this case surely they are hidden behind their mom as they are able to suppress the weak only.

What the Israelis don't want to admit is that there is a huge demand for drugs, mainly heroin in Israel and that's what these smugglers mainly supply

Hezbollah doesnt need to cross the border to supply drugs to Israel. Israelis can travel to Europe and then fly into Beirut. Ever heard of Elhanan Tannenbaum? Hugo Chavez is collaborating with FARC to bring in drugs to the US

Israeli police drug squads regularly watch the Lebanon-Israel border and have made some big drug busts, while admitting they don’t get it all.

It’s so easy for drug mules to toss kilo packages and money back & forth over the border fence. The border between Lebanon & Israel is just a couple of barbed-wire fences 2.5 meters high and about 4 meters apart. Tossing bundoes over the fence doesn’t set off the sensors, and the police do a lot of overtime waiting at likely exchange points, sometimes with success, often without.

If you knew anything at all about drugs, Marco, the poster shows a cocaine ”bong”, and has nothing to do with hash. Traditionally, the largest hash users In israel are Arabs, mostly from the Galilee area... that’s what they smoke in their nargillas, mixed with tobacco. The battle here is against harder drugs.
