France :

One of the most obnoxious aspects of France’s leftists is their thuggish behavior. These people think that nearly action is justified in their cause for “social justice”. French Marxists grow up early in the art of violence.

Whenever there is a clash with the government over some - horror! - free-marker reform, socialists groups on French campus impose a blockade. Apparently they think that their political opposition has to stand in the way of people getting an education. Instead of organizing legal meet-ups and protests in public arenas, they line chairs and desk and bring the university to a close. Exams are often delayed and students finish studies later than normally, very often this eats up into summer vacation. This is happening right now in France once again.

French Students Vote With Their Feet
Idiot French students march under the banner of Mao and the Soviet symbol. Apparently the free-market is evil, but governments that killed nearly one hundred million are worthy of respect and emulation.

The French government is trying to introduce more independence in university administration, but because universities can now raise private funds hard-left activists are worried about the “privatization” of colleges. Regardless of the merit of their opposition, such radical behavior is unbecoming of a civilized country. One’s political frustrations does not entitle him to obstruct the eduction of his peers. But leftists no nothing of respecting the rights and freedoms of their fellow man. What enrages me is that they get away with blocking the campus not just for a few days, but for months. The pathetic police are too afraid to go in there and start breaking heads as they should.

Fortunately not all French students are stupid, spoiled brats:

There are signs that student disruption at some universities is starting to have unintended consequences. The most radical campuses, including Rennes II, Toulouse II-Le Mirail and Lille III, have recently seen falling enrolment. Between 2004 and 2007, according to research by the National Inter-University Union, a centre-right student association, enrolment at the 11 most strike-prone universities fell three to five times faster than the national average. In more ways than one, it seems, French students are voting with their feet.

Let the thuggish left have its venial protests, and those who want to learn will simply go elsewhere. A brain drain is what socialism leads to everywhere.
