Biden's Nonsense Words on GeorgiaAmerica’s Vice-President Joseph Biden visited the Georgian capital of Tbilisi on Thursday and declared his strong support for the Georgian people in their war with Russia that broke out last summer. Russian troops were able to quickly overrun Georgia’s army and have since ensured de facto independence for the two pro-Russian breakaway provinces for which the war was thought.

While in Georgia, Biden stated that Russia “used a pretext to invade your country.”

Biden’s words are empty pandering to Georgia’s impulsive leader. Russia did not use some unwarranted “pretext” to invade Georgia. A new European Union investigation revels that it was not Russia that started the war, but Shakasvila’s Georgia. It was Georgia’s army that first started the indiscriminate shelling.

Now this is not to say that Russia did not set up an elaborate trap for the Georgians to walk in, but the in the end the Georgia’s started firing when they did not have to. Georgia started the war, the “pretext” that Russia had was given to it on a plate by the Georgians.

But here is the real question: Why is this American problem? Why is the U.S. so concerned about what two enclaves that most American have never heard about and about a country that if you asked Americans to locate on a map they would point their finger south of South Carolina. Is this country and last’s summers conflict - whether it is noble or not or who’s right or wrong - really worth antagonizing the Russians over? No.

The United States should also be since as a nation that believes in freedom and liberty [something that Georgia is not exactly 100% supportive of under their pro-Western government], but American foreign policy should be motivated by U.S. interests. What national interest is at stake in Georgia? What strategic value is gained by uttering by Biden did and annoying a regional power like Russia? None.

Maybe the Georgians are the good guys and I believe Putin is a thug, but the United States cannot just go around and intervening in every world conflict. That is a U.S. empire - with the occasional war - that is too burdensome for America. It will bankrupt us and end up eroding out civil liberties for an empire abroad cannot go on for so long without government power greatly increasing at home.

The United States needs to stop with this need to go around and comment on everything. One of the greatest things American leaders go do abroad is just “SHUT UP” and not give their opinion on this or that.

These were not the nonsense worlds of Biden. In fact these were the pure diplomatic words. It's the duty of US to help Georgia to counter any Russian threat.

Why is it the duty of the US? It is not America’s business to counter any Russian ”threats.”

You should America be the world’s policeman?

What about assisting South Ossettia in countering the Georgian threat?

After all, the whole thing was started by Georgia invading South Ossettia. I don’t see how the US has a duty to support an act of aggression.

What can we expect from the Joe Biden who has no sense of international diplomacy? Obama is doing his all efforts to break the ice with Russia and people like Biden are busy in spoiling the US-Russia relations. Why can't he understand that it's not the cold war era?

Putin is a thug for the people like you but he is the person who has reorganized the whole of the Russia. In fact Putin is the person who rebuild the Russia after the collapse of USSR.

It has been the legacy of all US rulers to interfere in the every world conflict but Americans don't want to see Obama committing the same mistakes. He should immediately rectify the Biden's stand on Russia-Georgia relations.

It is sort of like going up to group of people with a smile on your face and an outstretched hand and saying, ”Come, we invite you to join us, please come so that we don’t have to kill you.”

Then being thoroughly surprised when they slam the door in your face and start shooting at you through the windows.

Who was the aggressor in that case?

That is what is called making an offer you CAN’T refuse!
