I am sure many of who came across at least once a posting featuring a prayer by the American Rev. Billy Graham. Because this site features many, if not most, contributors from outside the States, I thought I would take the liberty to inform ya’ll about something important relating Billy Graham.

The title ‘Aytollah Billy Graham’ comes from a Syrian intellectual’s description of Billy Graham. The reason for the Aytollah is because Billy Graham has never met an American war that he hasn’t endorsed. It seems that every war that the United States embarks on required his endorsement. And fortunately for American administrations, Billy Graham never hesitates to endorse wars. Whether Vietnam, the first Gulf War, or in recent years the war in Afghanistan and Iraq. So much for the Christian message of peace.

This is not to say that it is the duty of a religious leader, Reverend or otherwise, to always stand against war. Some wars are worthy of universal support and religious leaders can properly rally the nation for a noble war. But Billy Graham has hardly demonstrated a nuanced approach to war. War costs lives on both sides, it is not an endeavor to support without giving a second thought. But Graham was consistently offered his support without reservations. So much for a man seeking to emulate the ‘Prince of Peace’. Hence Aytollah Billy Graham.

And Billy Graham has raised a son who is a bona-fide Islamophobe. Franklin Graham has called Islam a ‘wicked religion’ that must be ‘fought’. Aw, a proper Christian fundamentalist upbringing that teaches tolerance.
