It was little more than a year ago that Apple announced the App store for its iPhone and iTouch. At the time the breakthrough that is the iPhone dominated the headlines and the App store was seen as just another feature on the smart-phone.

[Apple.]
But will the iPhone is the most revolutionary product Apple has released in years, the App is equally so and is one of the strongest reasons the iPhone as become such a strong market seller. The App store has an app for pretty much anything you may need. App’s frequent advertising of this - for Apps to help you dine out to those which write up receipts - has no doubt influence many people to buy the iPhone rather than any other smart-phone.
The Blackberry may also be nice, but it lacks an App store and that is Apple’s biggest advantage. It is the App store more than any other feature on the iPhone that is most revolutionary.
A forum where an infinite number of software producers can sell or offer for free apps to suit every person.
In just a year, over 50,000 apps have been made available for consumers. And - more outstandingly - over 1 BILLION adds have been downloaded! The store is another money-maker for Apple and have spawned a whole new industry.
Apple vets every app before it to be sold. This has caused some resentment among some producers. I personally met people who have had their apps turned down for no compelling reason. Apple bans adult-related apps for the most part, however.
In celebration of the 1 year anniversary, Apple is promoting the best selling apps.
