With their master.
When the history books are written on contemporary Arab life it will noted that Arab tyrants have treated their own people worse than other, even worse than Israel and the United States both in terms of deeds and in the moral gravity of the abuse. By the latter, I mean that no body expects anything from The U.S. and the Jewish State, but Arabs “leaders” are expected to treat their people with respect, defend them and stand with them elsewhere in solidarity.
But Arabs “leaders” have behaved in the polar opposite. I will concentrate on the question of explosion. Of course, the brutal and regressive rule of Arab tyrants has lead to many self-inflicted exiles. But Arabs “leaders” have also initiated more than their own share.
In 1948, the new apartheid state of Israel in an effort to establish a Jewish majority in the Holy Land forcibly expelled roughly 800,000 Palestinians from their homes and made them refugees to this awaiting their right-to-return (there is something to be said about how Arab nations continue to treat Palestinians refugees, but that is for another post).
In 1991, the al-Sabahs of Kuwait found Israel’s actions to be inspiring and decided to do some ethnic cleansing of their own. Prior to 1991, Kuwait was home to a vibrant and very wealthy Palestinian expatriate community. Outside of the royal family, the Palestinians were the elite in Kuwait and almost single-handily operate the press. But due to Palestinian leader Yasir ‘Arafat’s foolish, preemptive and self-defeating endorsement of Saddam Hussein’s annexation of Kuwait; once Kuwait regained independence the al-Sabahs took their revenge against all Palestinians. The Palestinians of Kuwait for the most part did not share ‘Arafat’s words of support, but that did not spare them. Kuwait forcibly expelled nearly its entire Palestinian population to great loss to the Kuwait economy since the Palestinians were pretty all the human capital Kuwait had. The current Queen of Jordan is one of those exiles. While Israel sought to hide its ethnic cleansing and to this day refuses to acknowledge its role in the Palestinian refugee problem, the Kuwait press actually used the words - with encouragement - “ethnic cleansing” in its press. If you go back and read the press then, it was filled with the most crude attacks against Palestinian. Their hatred of ‘Arafat is entirely justified, but there is not justification of blanket opposition to the Palestinian people.
So, Kuwait explosion tally is: 400,000.
Saudi Arabia took heart from Kuwaiti grotesque and vile collective punishment. Yemen’s government made the same mistake as ‘Arafat. Yemen has the misfortune of being the only Gulf country with no oil or natural gas. Tiny Bahrain, if placed in Yemen would be a drop, has tons of resources and very few people. Yemen is a third-world nation which could become a failed state if the central government fails in its battle against northern tribes and a southern al-Qai-dah insurgence, and home to 30 million. Because of poor prospects at home, many Yemenis left to work in Saudi Arabia. By 1991 they number one million. You know what happened then once Saudi Arabia no longer feared an attack from Saddam after U.S. troops (or “Islamic and other friendly forces” as Saudi propaganda called them at the time) arrived to save the House of Saud. Saudi tally: 1,000,000.
That brings us to the United Arab Emirates. While the numbers of forced exiles is a lot less, this act by the ruling monarchs in the U.A.E. is the most despicable because the U.A.E. has no reason (not to say the others did), but the U.A.E. is not acting out of any personal revenge but simply out of U.S. and Israeli dictates. The depravity of Arabs “leaders” knows no bounds. For months, the U.A.E. have been expelling Palestinians rooted in Gaza for no other reason but to punish Hamas. How does that logic even work? What do Palestinians living in Dubai have to do with Hamas which happens to govern Gaza? How does this even punish Hamas? Is this supposed to make those Palestinians than supportive of rival Fatah (who says they aren’t already)? Clearly, Fatah is instructing, on behalf of Israel, the U.A.E. to behave like this and the pettiness of Arab “leaders” can never be underestimated. But the Palestinians are only the beginning, Lebanese Shi’is are also being forced out. Here a pretext is being offered: They refuse to make trips to Lebanon and spy on Hezbollah and on fellow Shiites in the U.A.E. Spy for whom? The U.A.E. has no need for intel on Hezbollah. So here you have an Arab government abusing its own people and kicking them from the country on behalf of the United States and . . . Israel of all people (in order to undermine a militia which is the only reason Israel has bombed Lebanon lately). This is how Arab “leaders” behave. Willingly to sell out their people all for the dubious honor of being a U.S./Israeli client.
U.A.E. tally: their soul.
There are no words for this depravity.
