American Conservatives Stand with Chinese Freedom ActivistsAmerican conservatives are aghast at the repression of Chinese freedom activists at the hands of the communists tyrants in Beijing. American conservatives, who are proud defenders of free people, have decided to take on the cause of Chinese Uighurs whom are brutally repressed and prevented from freely practicing their religion.

American conservatives have added the Uighurs cause to their lists of concerns even though they are currently losing sleep over the oppression of Iranians. It may seem like a lot, but nothing is too much for the lovers of freedom that American conservatives are.

Of course, none of this is true. I am only writing this to show just how anti-Muslim, not just anti-Islam but anti-Muslim, American mainstream discourse has become.

The Uighurs, for those unfamiliar, are Chinese Muslims. They number 40 million and are centralized in the north-west of the country in the Xinjiang province. Their cause is one American would normally champion: an oppressed minority people, yearning for self-determination or at least religious freedom [a core American principle], and standing up against a communist dictatorship in order to win their cause. But, alas, the Uighurs are Muslims and Muslims have been so dehumanized as the enemy that even when they are the defenders of freedom in a clear-cut battle between right and wrong, good and evil; the Uighurs are not only dismissed but even mocked. Over 150 people have been killed, but for conservatives the death of Muslims is not just justified, but celebrated and never enough.

Right-wing websites have taken to siding with the Chinese and attacking Uighurs are exhibiting the uncivilized violence that American right-wingers believe are innate in Muslims. Such is their grotesque level of racism. There support for Iranians was never sincere, but an shamelessly opportunistic champion because they only hate the Iranian regime more than they hate average Iranians. It has not about principles defense of freedom for Iranians, but hope that the regime may be toppled. Had the very same so-called supporters of Iranian demonstrators had their wish, like the insane zealot John McCain, many of the same marching youth would have been killed by American bombs...no doubt blessed by Billy Graham.

Had the Uighurs been Christians, there would be massive outrage in American now that the CCP would treat Chinese Christians who want nothing more than religious liberty in such a brutal manner. A few years ago, President Bush visited a church while on a trip to China. Mosques face the same persecution, but no word is uttered in their defense. This is due to racism.

To their great credit, two American lawmakers have offered support for the Uighurs: William Delahunt (D-MA) and Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA). But they are just two. Had a Palestinian child thrown a rock at an Israeli occupation solider the entire Congress would have risen up in outrage to condemn him and demand his illegal, Guantanamo indefinite detention.
