It makes perfect sense that Saudi Arabia and Israel would both form an alliance...in secret, of course. Both nations share a lot in common: a ideology of hate at the center of their state, official discrimination against minorities, constant promotion of hateful and lying propaganda, and a resentment of Iran.
It is that resentment of Shia Iran that has united these two vile, undemocratic regimes. Israel wants to maintain its nuclear weapons, one of the largest arsenals in the world, while denying it to any other Middle Eastern nation. Israeli believes it not only has an entitlement to have nuclear weapons by itself, but that the rest of the world should continue to turn a blind eye to Israel’s weapons while worrying about Iran’s suspected nuclear program that is years away from developing even the capability. Do not be fooled by the Israeli propaganda that Israel only objects to Iranian nuclear possession because Iran is a “rogue” regime. Even if Egypt, which has a 30-year peace treaty with Israel, sought nuclear weapons; Israel would be trying to stop it too.
Saudi Arabia does not claim the same reasons for opposing Iranian nukes. It does not fear that Iran will be an existential threat, but Saudi Arabia wants to maintain its own form of hegemony: Persian Gulf Hegemony. Ever since the Islamic Republic in 1979, Iran has fallen as a regional power with the vacuum filled by Saudi Arabia. The Saudis know that the Iranians will grow more dominant, or fear so anyway, with an intimidating capability or actually bomb in hand, so to speak. The Saudis do not want Iran to challenge the Kingdom’s dominance in the Gulf and especially worries that a stronger Iran will fund opposition to the Saudi royal family by employing the Kingdom’s 10% greatly-oppressed and officially vilified Shia minority as a fifth-column to overthrow or at least cause great trouble for the royals.
So the Israelis and the Saudis have found a common enemy. Though one should stress that while all Israelis, both government, military and the lay fear a nuclear Iran; only the Saudi royal family for the most part worries about a nuclear Iran. So the alliance is not between both peoples, but people Israel as a whole and the corrupt brothel-obsessed princes whom run that grotesque Kingdom. An alliance nonetheless, which explains this interesting bit of news:
The head of Mossad, Israel’s overseas intelligence service, has assured Benjamin Netanyahu, its prime minister, that Saudi Arabia would turn a blind eye to Israeli jets flying over the kingdom during any future raid on Iran’s nuclear sites. Earlier this year Meir Dagan, Mossad’s director since 2002, held secret talks with Saudi officials to discuss the possibility. The Israeli press has already carried unconfirmed reports that high-ranking officials, including Ehud Olmert, the former prime minister, held meetings with Saudi colleagues. The reports were denied by Saudi officials. “The Saudis have tacitly agreed to the Israeli air force flying through their airspace on a mission which is supposed to be in the common interests of both Israel and Saudi Arabia,” a diplomatic source said last week.
I have no doubt that this is true and we very may well see an Israeli attack via the Saudi skies.
