The United States officially passed the $1 trillion national deficit mark in the month of July. This is a record. The national deficit is not to be confused with the national debt, which is an astronomical +$10 trillion. The deficit is more spent on credit, rather than borrowed from foreigners, that is really non-existent and calculated on a yearly basis reflecting the gap between federal spending and federal revenue.
That is why the number is beyond incredible. The U.S. government is spending in one year a $1 trillion more than it collects in taxes. The deficit is simply wack!
Why is it so high? Because the government wants huge entitlement spending, two wars, federal bailout and now the Democrats want establish universal health care that will cost at least a $1 trillion.
And that is just on paper. Most government programs end up costing a lot more in actuality than in theory. Universal health care will just add to the cost of entitlement spending that threatens to destroy the U.S. economy. The problems of Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security [the former will go bankrupt by 2017] without adding another big-government program.
Eventually drastic action will be taken. The current state of the deficit and the debt may destroy Obama’s plan for government-run health care. Polls show that most American worry about the size of national debt. They will not be keen to support a program that adds to government debt.
The good news is that if health care fails, and I pray it does, then that might lead to the Obama administration becoming restrained and ending the prospect for any big-government programs. Like the death of HillaryCare did for the Clinton team.
